Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award

The world’s leading youth achievement award

We are delighted to have become a licenced organisation for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – the world’s leading youth achievement award. Open to pupils from Years 9 and 10, the DofE Bronze Award gives our pupils the chance to do something completely new and improve on things they are already doing. It gives them amazing new experiences while building confidence, resilience, skills for work and friendship groups.

For the past seven decades, the DofE has inspired and transformed the lives of millions of young people from all walks of life. The benefits of achieving a DofE Award are endless and can give pupils the edge when they apply for college, university or a job.

Each participant’s programme is tailor made to reflect the starting point of the individual and their abilities and interests.

They will be expected to complete four different sections:

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Development and regular progress must be shown:

You also have to do 3 more months in one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections.

For further information please contact Mr Ryan.

Volunteering

This is all about making a difference to other people’s lives whether it is working with older people or raising money for a cause that means a lot to them. The Volunteering section of the DofE enables pupils to give their time to help others and change things for the better. Many find this section the most rewarding and continue to volunteer long after achieving a DofE Award.

Timescale: 3 months

Skills

The Skills section encourages participants to develop a particular skill that boosts their self-esteem, develops practical and social skills and teaches them how to set and rise to a challenge.

Expedition

Expedition
As part of a small team, pupils plan and complete a practice and final expedition that helps to improve their communication and leadership skills and provides long-lasting memories.
