Enrichment

The Enrichment Department is a caring environment that provides support for pupils throughout the Senior School. It assists pupils who may be experiencing barriers to their learning and works with them to develop strategies that allow them full access to the curriculum.

The department consists of a Head of Department and a team of highly dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistants who are all educated to degree standard. Staff are highly experienced in working with pupils with Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Difficulties, Dyscalculia and those on the Autistic Spectrum. Equally, our staff are skilled at supporting pupils who just need that little bit of extra help in order to reach their full potential.

Who can access Enrichment?

The Enrichment Department is open to all pupils to help them fulfil their potential, make good progress and build their self-esteem. In line with the school ethos, support and timetables are tailored to the individual needs of the pupil. Staff support some pupils in lessons throughout the day as well as teaching small groups in the Enrichment Centre.

Students will complete a baseline assessment at the beginning of each year and then receive regular  formative assessment and summative assessments for each module to measure their progress.

Students will receive one Computing homework each week to be completed online.

Examinations

During busy exam periods, the Enrichment Department supports pupils with study and revision skills through individual mentoring sessions and is responsible for putting in place invigilation and examination access arrangements.

Enrichment Clubs

All pupils arriving early to school can access the Enrichment Breakfast Club. Open from 8am, it enables pupils to complete homework, access the ICT room for research tasks or read quietly. Enrichment also offers lunchtime clubs which include ICT club, board games club, craft club, basketball and badminton clubs as well as support with homework. Pupils can also choose to attend the Enrichment Department at the end of the school day for a quiet study period or to complete homework.
