As part of Curriculum Enrichment Day, pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 visited Cadbury World in Bournville, Birmingham on Wednesday 9th March 2016.
Cadbury World offered a unique experience that gave a fascinating insight into the rich heritage of the nation’s favourite chocolate brand. Pupils discovered the origins of the cocoa bean and its journey to Europe in the 16th century. They learnt the history behind the creation of the Cadbury factory and Bournville village by the Cadbury brothers. Students had the opportunity to explore how Cadbury manufacture popular products, create innovative advertising and packaging design. During the tour our pupils watched chocolatiers work their magic as they revealed the ingredients and making of chocolate. The tour finished with an adventurous journey in a 4D cinema experience, complete with motion seats!
After lunch, pupils expanded their knowledge with a one hour curriculum-linked educational talk based around the subjects of Design Technology and Home Economics. No trip at Cadbury world would have been complete without having the opportunity to sample some of their delicious chocolate treats. A great day was had by all!
