The School is recognised as having one of the most diversely creative and well equipped Arts Departments in the South of Manchester. The areas of study are challenging: everything from silk screen printing, fashion, costume design, three dimensional design, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery are explored, not forgetting the more traditional drawing and painting which form a considerable part of class work. Standards in Art are high throughout the school and the quality of some portrait drawings is outstanding.” ISI Report.
In Home Economics the pupils study the relationship between nutrition, food choice and health in a practical and theoretical way. The pupils enjoy preparing and cooking a range of dishes which can be enjoyed with their families. The course caters for pupils of all abilities and provides them with the skills and knowledge to progress further in this field.
Throughout this course pupils will have an opportunity to design and make quality products, taking into account how technological development affects planning and production. The extensive coursework component makes it possible for pupils to secure high grades and be well equipped to move onto further study and employment.
