The Senior School offers a broad and balanced range of subjects which combines the modern, the traditional, the creative and expressive arts. The School meets the requirements of the National Curriculum, exemplified by the range of GCSE and external examinations which are on offer to meet the specific needs of the individual pupil.
The teaching staff are highly qualified and experienced in meeting the needs of the individual. Small class sizes ensure optimum pupil to teacher ratio. The more able are stretched in classes where pupils of a similar ability are taught. Likewise, others are nurtured in a supportive environment and can benefit from the facilities and expertise provided by the Learning Support Department.
In Key Stage 3, Years 7 – 9, subjects are pre-selected in order to offer variety and to develop key skills and personal interests from the outset. The curriculum comprises: English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Art, Drama, French, Spanish, Music, Design Technology, Information & Communication Technology, Home Economics, Physical Education and Citizenship.
In Key Stage 4, Years 10 – 11, pupils have the chance to select their GCSE examination options. Getting this right is vital at this important stage of a career path where consultation between pupils, teachers and parents is encouraged. After this important process the pupils select up to nine subjects at GCSE.
Personal and academic progress is fundamental to the Hulme Hall experience and it is a feature of the School’s approach.
