The Midday Meal

The School meal will consist of:

  • Hot homemade food, i.e. homemade pies, lasagnes, roast dinners with a vegetarian choice, potato or rice option and fresh vegetables.
  • Pasta King - a range of 3 sauces, 1 of which is vegetarian.
  • Noodles are available on alternative days to Pasta King with a choice of 3 sauces (including vegetarian)
  • Salad Bar

Each child can also have, as part of their meal, one piece of fruit, a bread roll and a choice of dessert or yoghurt.

The termly charge will be based on the weekly cost from £12.00 for Kindergarten to £15.00 for Seniors

There is no obligation to make use of the school's Catering Service provided that children bring with them an adequate packed meal which must be kept intact to be eaten under supervision in the room allocated for the purpose and at the time indicated. Parents who lead such busy lives that they cannot find time for the necessary shopping and preparation of such a packed meal, and those who have misgivings about their child's ability to comply with the regulations above, are strongly recommended to make use of the Catering Service. The choice of meals caters for all normal tastes. Pupils who wish to change from packed meals to school lunches or vice versa, are asked to give a half term's notice.

Guidance for users of the School Dining Room (addressed directly to the children).

The object of the following rules is simply to admit you into the dining room and to serve your meal as quickly as possible. Given good sense and co-operation, the dining room can be a pleasant place with a happy, relaxed atmosphere.

Times

You are given a time to report to the dining room, varying somewhat from day to day. Read the notice in your form room, and memorise your daily time. Do not queue any earlier than 5 minutes ahead of time.

Procedure

At the appropriate time you should make your way to the corridor outside the dining room and queue in an orderly manner until told to enter the dining room.

On the way in, you will see the menu for the day clearly displayed from which you should make your choice.

Each child will take a tray, choose the main course and a sweet course from the serving hatch and proceed with his/her companions to the table.

Tables must be cleared and plates and cutlery handed in at the washing-up room near the exit. Children are responsible for cleaning their own table.

Tuck Shop (Senior school only)

The Tuck Shop is located in the Dining Hall and is open each day between 11.05am and 11.25am for the sale of drinks and light, healthy refreshments.

Behaviour

In no circumstances are you to:

  • behave noisily or inconsiderately to others in the dining room
  • push into the queue or let a friend in to the queue or to "keep a place". All forms of queue jumping are regarded as anti-social kinds of behaviour.

You are urged to enjoy the opportunity of a pleasant, relaxed conversation with your friends and to avoid any conduct which might cause inconvenience to others.
